Throughout our lives, we participate in religious community in order to develop our faith. While faith development is often associated with education, to be most effective it must involve all aspects of congregational life: worship, expression through music and other arts, social action, caring for one another, and community fellowship.

Just as faith development extends across the life span, so it has an intergenerational component. Though we often divide ourselves as appropriate for various activities by age, at other times we come together to reach across the ages and the generations. Our Together worship service and Together in Service social action projects are two prominent examples of our intergenerational activities.

UUFR encourages children and youth to participate fully in the life of our Fellowship. We seek to provide children and youth with appreciation for a diversity of beliefs and tolerance of others' ideas. A nurturing environment, innovative religious education programs, and able, enthusiastic leadership help our youth to develop their own beliefs and values.

Director of Religious Education Tryst Chagnon has provided these guidelines for age-appropriate faith development:

Young School Age

Upper Elementary Children

Guidelines for other age cohorts are being developed.
