Getting Involved in Worship and Music

Worship

Together serviceOrganizing worship services takes a lot of energy! Volunteers are involved in planning and presenting both the Together and traditional worship services on Sunday mornings as well as other services at various times. The Together service is a shorter (45-minute), all-ages, intergenerational service that is particularly welcoming to families with young children who wish to worship together.

Some services are planned and presented entirely by volunteers, but all services involve at least some lay member participation: as speakers and readers, as sound system operators and ushers, building altars or providing flowers and other decorations. Music

We have a vibrant music program at UUFR, and we encourage all to participate. Singers may join the UUFR Choir or participate in "instant" choirs like the JoyUUs Singers or Summertime Singers. Instrumentalists may choose to join the Brass Choir. Community Singing Circle, Folkie Fridays, and the Classical Music Club offer the opportunity for sociable musical experiences.

"Open Mic" nights are scheduled in 2009-10 on Friday evenings November 20, February 19, and April 23 at 7 p.m. in Founders Hall. These are opportunities for sharing music and poetry in an unstructured environment. Contact: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. We also encourage individuals and ensembles to perform at services. Musicians, of whatever musical style or level of experience, are urged to get involved with music at UUFR.
