ONE Wake is the multi-religious, multi-cultural, multi-racial community organizing network to which UUFR belongs.
The three issues it is focusing on now are affordable housing, living wage jobs, and equitable educational opportunities.
ONE Wake has developed specific proposals to address these issues in Raleigh and other Wake County Communities. In October 2021, ONE Wake will be asking elected leaders to support these proposals. Whether elected leaders will support these proposals depends on how much grassroot support for these proposals ONE Wake is able to demonstrate. ONE Wake’s goal is to have 10,000 voters commit to supporting these proposals before asking elected officials for their support.
Here are three things you can do to help with this effort:
- Learn more about ONE Wake’s proposals here.
- Fill out the form showing you support these proposals. UUFR’s goal is to have at least 200 UUFR members and friends fill out this form. Consider inviting family members, friends, neighbors, and co-workers who live in Wake County to learn about the proposals and fill out this form as well.
- Sign up to work with members of other churches, synagogues, and mosques to canvass specific neighborhoods in Raleigh and Cary in July and August to increase grassroot support for these proposals. Consider asking other UUFR members and friends at UUFR to sign up for the same date as you.
Whether Raleigh and other Wake County municipalities will be communities that serve the needs of their residents or only serve the needs of wealthy developers depends on your willingness to help. Do what you can to help today.
