Meet Our New Family Ministry Director

Dear UUFR Members and Friends,

I am excited to announce that following a nationwide search, I have hired a new Family Ministry Director.

Dana Lundquist will begin working full-time at UUFR on August 1st.

Raised a Unitarian Universalist, Dana has worked on staff teaching children and youth at the First Unitarian Church of Rochester, New York, and the Community Church of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, which is also a Unitarian Universalist congregation. Having earned a Master of Science in Education, she also has experience teaching middle school and high school math.

Dana currently works full-time as the Congregational Administrator at the Community Church of Chapel Hill, a position in which she is able to well utilize both her excellent people skills and organizational skills, but she says she is excited to find a position in which she can work with children and youth again, which is her passion.

Dana writes:

I am over the moon about the opportunity to join your community as the Family Ministry Director. To me it is the greatest honor to share in the mystery, wonder, and quirkiness of the world with children and youth; it is my most joyous spiritual practice. We are blessed with a faith tradition that gifts families with the love and support to grow through questioning and serving this world. I look forward to diving into this adventure with all of you in a few months.

Dana is married and has a five-year-old daughter. Her spouse is on staff at the North Carolina Zen Center, in Pittsboro, where they currently live.

There will be opportunities beginning in August to meet and get to know Dana in person, so please watch for future announcements.

Warmly,
Rev. Dr. James Kubal-Komoto
Lead Minister
