Coming of Age

Coming of Age is our Unitarian Universalist rite of passage year-long program comparable to Bar/Bat Mitzvah and Confirmation designed for primarily 9th graders (but open to older teens as well). Teens commit to meeting Oct – May on 2nd and 3rd Sundays to explore big life questions about our beliefs and values and what it means to be Unitarian Universalist. Each teen also have a mentor from the congregation for deeper one on one conversations. There is also a Spirituality retreat Dec 12-13 and a heritage tour to Wilmington April 14-16. The year culminates with a Coming of Age service on May 23rd where teens can share their credos or belief statements.  This is a covenented cohort program which requires regular attendance and youth agreement to participate.  Email with questions!

Teen Assistant Program

During services, teens have the opportunity to support Family Ministry and the Worship as paid assistants. Teens will work 2-4 Sundays a month supporting programming for infants to elementary aged youth or supporting A/V needs in the Sanctuary. Accepted teens who are 14 years old will be paid $10 an hour. A zoom interview with Kathryn is required for this program. Please email Kathryn at if you would like to schedule an interview. We have limited spaces in this program and cannot guarentee a position.

Bridging for Seniors

12th Graders are invited to gather and reflection on the upcoming transition out of high school in this program called called bridging. From January – May,  participants will commit to meet monthly on 2nd Sundays from 12:45 – 1:45 to share about their experiences and reflect on  certain aspects of graduation such as belonging, identity, and envisioning the future. There is the option for monthly zoom check ins as well in between in person meetings.  In the first Sunday of June seniors are recognized during the service by our congregation during a special Bridging ritual.
