On Saturday, January 11, the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Raleigh will host a 20-minute performance of Macbeth, reimagined as a “mashup” by Dan Decker of Carolina Shakespeare. This unique version of the play is designed to be performed in public school classrooms, where it introduces students to Shakespeare’s works in an engaging and accessible way.
The performance, which takes place from 4:30 to 5:30 PM in the sanctuary, is a fundraising event to support Carolina Shakespeare’s initiative of bringing free, interactive Shakespeare performances to schools. Each performance fits into a typical class period, with 2-3 actors and a moderator guiding students through a discussion of the play, encouraging their active participation.
Childcare will be available during the performance. Following the performance, the Fellowship will host its Second Saturday Social potluck dinner. Attendees are encouraged to make a donation to support Carolina Shakespeare’s mission of offering free performances to schools across the region. To contribute, donations can be made online here.
Don’t miss this opportunity to experience a lively and interactive version of Macbeth and to support a worthy cause that brings Shakespeare’s stories to life in classrooms throughout the area.
