Laura Dupré

I discovered Unitarian Universalism in 2016 while teaching a unit on world religions to my 6th-grade students. The principles deeply resonated with my personal values, and after attending my first service and connecting with others over coffee hour, I knew I had found my spiritual home at UUFR. Since then, I have engaged in various aspects of congregational life, including the Care Team, Young Adult Group, Chalice Circles, Wednesday Night Dinners, the Reception Team, and the Nominating Committee (which I later chaired).

I also served on the Board of Directors for four years—as President-Elect, President, and for two years as Past President. During my time on the board, I was the liaison for the Memorial and Healthy Congregation Committees and served on the Strategic Planning Team, helping to develop a strategic plan that was ultimately voted on by the congregation. My year as President was incredibly rewarding with one of the highlights being that I was able to participate in the interview process that led to the hiring of our amazingly wonderful Family Ministries Director, Dana.

Beyond leadership roles, UUFR has offered me opportunities to grow and connect in meaningful ways. I’ve participated in workshops, parenting groups, and social justice efforts, deepening my understanding and engagement with our community.

Professionally, I am an upper elementary Montessori guide, a role that requires balancing multiple projects simultaneously while fostering a structured and supportive learning environment for students ages 9-12. My experience as a Special Education Department Chair strengthened my ability to manage teams, oversee time-sensitive legal documentation, and ensure compliance with critical procedures. Additionally, my leadership roles at UUFR have deepened my skills in delegation, collaboration, and organizational management.

UUFR has been a steady source of support for me through significant life events, including the birth of my youngest child, major health challenges, and my divorce. I have found great fulfillment in giving back to this community through leadership, service, and fellowship. I am deeply committed to UUFR’s mission and am honored to contribute my time and skills to this important search process.
