In 2020, a Voter Engagement Team was organized to work with UU Forward Together of NC (now known as UU Justice NC). Our goal was to reach potential voters outside of UUFR, while also staying informed on issues that affected our members and providing members education in those areas. The primary campaign involved writing postcards. There were several events between February and November. In all, 105 members wrote 5,560 postcards.
In 2022, a new team worked with UU Forward Together of NC on a postcard campaign to registered voters. Two thousand postcards were sent out by more than 50 members to registered voters in North Carolina.
In 2024, a UUFR the Vote team was organized to inform the congregation of multiple Get Out The Vote actions. Postcarding was still the primary action. This year more than 100 members sent out 6,000 postcards encouraging infrequent voters to vote early. Members were also involved in many activities including rallies, canvassers, phone banking, poll workers, and poll watchers.
Voter action is a power of the UUFR. More than 100 members continue to be involved in Get Out the Vote activities.
