The monthly gathering of the UUFR Elder Support Ministry meeting will be held on Sunday, July 19 at 12 pm after service in Room 201 Peace Hall. Dr. Donald J. Weisz will be presenting a talk about “The Aging Brain”. The aging process affects the brain both structurally and cognitively. Brain aging begins naturally in your 40s and involves physical shrinkage, reduced blood flow, and declining neurotransmitters. Dr. Weisz is a neurophysiologist and neuroscientist best known for his foundational research on synaptic plasticity, classical conditioning, and neural mechanisms of learning in the hippocampus. Feel free to bring a brown bag lunch and drink. For more information on Dr. Weisz click here.
