Labyrinths are patterns drawn on the ground or a floor that mark a single winding path to the center, and the benefits of walking them have been known for centuries. Beyond their use in prayer and meditation, surveys and peer-reviewed research have confirmed benefits of labyrinth walks, including lowering blood pressure, decreasing stress and anxiety, and increasing cognitive clarity and mindfulness. They have also been used to relieve grief and to solve problems. UUFR owns a beautiful nine circuit labyrinth that we bring out on special occasions, but on Sunday October 18th, we will construct one on the floor of Peace Hall with tape. This will be a shorter walk with larger paths that will be easier to complete. It will be available for all to walk after the services. We are currently recruiting people to from a Labyrinth Group to help facilitate starting and maintaining this practice at UUFR. We invite you to join us! Contact Charlley Ward if you’re interested
