For more than 15 years, UUFR’s Men’s Breakfast has been a unique opportunity for fellowship among men. We check in on what’s happening in our lives, and share our thoughts on a topic chosen in advance– sometimes serious, sometimes humorous, and sometimes both.
On the third Saturday of each month, we arrive at Founder’s Hall at 9am for coffee and breakfast, followed by check-ins and discussion. We run no later than 11am and often wrap up earlier. Please join us! The Men’s Breakfast is open to anyone who identifies as male.
Rev. James asserts that goodbyes are important; that the way we say goodbye to our colleagues reflects our values as people and as organizations. This month we say goodbye to Art Lieberman, who started the Men’s Breakfast 17 years ago and is moving away. For some of you, coming to the Men’s Breakfast was a “way in” to understanding Unitarian Universalism and participating in the larger UUFR community. Connections were made that continue today. Whether you’ve known Art for years, or have just started joining us, we’ll mark our appreciation for the connections he’s encouraged us to make, and will continue to make going forward.
After starting with a general check-in, our topic will be: how do you stay connected? Lunches, phone calls, emails, letters? Do you have regular get- togethers with particular people, or attend book clubs or other activities to generate new connections? Does your family vacation with other families? Or do you only get together for weddings and funerals? What benefits do you get out of staying connected, and what happens when you miss those connections? Maybe you could use some ideas on how to connect with other people; you will get them here!
RSVP to David Potorti so we can plan our food needs. If you forget to RSVP, come anyway, just let others go first in line. And let David know if you’d like to be added to the mailing list to get reminders of our next meeting.
