More about Rev. Elizabeth

The Rev. Dr. Elizabeth Stevens was called as our new lead minister in April of 2026. Elizabeth brings over 25 years of successful ordained ministry within Unitarian Universalism, with particular expertise in conflict, trauma, and healthy congregational systems. Raised UU, she is theologically grounded, endlessly curious, and deeply committed to embodying and sharing our values, both within our community and in the wider world.

She shares, “Life has shown me over and over again that the best approach to solving complex problems is to listen deeply to multiple perspectives and let the best option coalesce in the center of the room. This means I never enter a discussion thinking I have all the answers, or even any answers. I bring an open heart and genuine curiosity.

I believe that community is what gets us through hard times, and that nothing is more important than nurturing and sustaining healthy relationships. I love my job, and I understand ministry as basically being human for a living, learning and growing and laughing and crying and noticing all the amazing, beautiful things that people have a hard time seeing in themselves.

In the words of Annie Dillard, “We are here to witness the creation and abet it. We are here to notice…the beautiful faces and complex natures of each other. We are here to bring to consciousness the beauty and power that are around us and to praise the people who are here with us…Otherwise, creation would be playing to an empty house.”

Elizabeth is also a musician, an avid outdoorswoman, and Mom to two grown sons and one Very Good Dog named Thomas.
